Integrations Backend Engineer (Full Time Contract)
Software Engineering
State of Santa Catarina, Brazil
ProjectMark is an all-in-one CRM and proposal platform built specifically for the construction industry. We give construction companies the tools they need to manage relationships, streamline their sales process, and win more work.
We are a fast-moving team looking for smart, ambitious, accountable engineers who care deeply about building great software and delivering an exceptional customer experience.
The RoleWe are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer with deep Node.js/TypeScript experience who is also highly proficient in modern AI-assisted software engineering.
You’ll own integrations between ProjectMark and the platforms our customers rely on, including construction ERPs, Microsoft and Google ecosystems, email/calendar providers, and enterprise identity systems.
This is complex backend work involving OAuth, webhooks, APIs, queues, field mapping, rate limits, retries, and bidirectional data synchronization.
We also want someone who has developed disciplined AI engineering workflows, including spec-driven development, AI coding agents, AI editors, context engineering, planning, testing, and verificationm, to build high-quality software significantly more efficiently.
AI proficiency must complement, not replace, strong software engineering fundamentals. You must be capable of independently designing systems, writing production-quality code, building and reviewing PRs, and identifying architectural, security, performance, and maintainability issues in both human and AI-generated code.
This role also involves direct customer interaction, so excellent spoken English and strong verbal communication skills are essential.
What You'll Do- Design, build, and maintain integrations with third-party platforms and APIs.
- Build scalable backend services using Node.js and TypeScript.
- Implement OAuth 2.0 / OpenID Connect flows, secure token management, webhooks, and bidirectional data sync.
- Design queue-driven systems that handle retries, rate limits, partial failures, backpressure, and eventual consistency.
- Build and review production PRs while maintaining a high standard for architecture, testing, security, and maintainability.
- Use modern AI engineering practices, including specs, coding agents, AI editors, and structured implementation/review workflows, to increase development velocity.
- Build comprehensive unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
- Own complex and ambiguous engineering problems from requirements through production.
- Work directly with customers, product managers, engineers, and external partners to understand requirements and solve technical problems.
- 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, with significant backend experience.
- 6+ years of professional Node.js experience.
- Deep proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, and frameworks such as Express.js or NestJS.
- Significant experience building and maintaining third-party API integrations.
- Strong experience with OAuth 2.0 / OpenID Connect, REST APIs, webhooks, and token lifecycle management.
- Experience with message queues/event-driven systems such as AWS SQS, including retries, dead-letter queues, and backpressure.
- Strong experience with PostgreSQL or similar relational databases and ORMs such as TypeORM.
- Experience with AWS or comparable cloud platforms and Docker.
- Strong architecture and system-design skills, particularly around resilient distributed systems and unreliable third-party APIs.
- Strong OOP/SOLID fundamentals and software design principles.
- Strong testing, debugging, code-review, and PR-development skills.
- Excellent spoken and written English with the ability to communicate directly and confidently with customers.
We are specifically looking for someone who goes beyond simply using an AI coding assistant.
You should have hands-on experience with modern AI engineering practices such as:
- Spec-driven development and structured implementation planning.
- AI coding agents and agentic development workflows.
- AI editors and development tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, Windsurf, or similar.
- Context engineering and effective task decomposition for agents.
- Structured planning → implementation → testing → review/verification workflows.
- Reviewing and validating AI-generated code against strong engineering standards.
- Using agents effectively to increase throughput without sacrificing code quality.
You should be able to clearly explain the processes you've developed for building production software with AI, where AI agents work well, where they fail, and how you ensure their output is architecturally sound and production-ready.
Nice to Have- SAML 2.0, Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), or SCIM experience.
- Microsoft Graph and/or Google Workspace API experience.
- Experience integrating construction software, ERPs, CRMs, or other complex domain-specific platforms.
- Experience developing internal AI engineering standards, tooling, or workflows.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field preferred, or equivalent professional experience.
