Role Description
We are seeking a highly motivated Integrations Backend Engineer who is enthusiastic about connecting ProjectMark to the tools our construction customers already rely on. In this role you'll own the systems that sync data bidirectionally between ProjectMark and external platforms construction ERPs, email and calendar providers, and enterprise identity systems This is deep, high-impact integration work: OAuth flows, webhooks, field mapping, rate limits, and queue-driven sync at scale.

You should be comfortable owning ambiguous, third-party-dependent problems end to end. Strong, fluent English (spoken and written) is essential, as you'll work daily with cross-functional teams and, at times, directly with external partners and their documentation/support. Qualifications
- 8+ years in backend engineering, with significant time spent on third-party integrations
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, and related frameworks (e.g., Express.js, Nest.js)
- Hands-on experience integrating external APIs: OAuth 2.0 / OpenID Connect flows, token lifecycle management, and REST API consumption
- Experience building and securing webhooks (inbound and outbound), including signature verification and idempotency
- Experience with message queues and event-driven sync (e.g., AWS SQS, or similar) and handling retries, dead-letter queues, and backpressure
- Experience with databases (e.g., Postgres), ORM libraries (e.g., TypeORM), and query optimization
- Experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
- Excellent knowledge of software design patterns, algorithms, and data structures
- Strong architecture and system design skills, especially designing resilient integrations against unreliable third-party systems (rate limits, partial failures, eventual consistency)
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field
- Excellent English communication skills (spoken and written) and the ability to work in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment
- Really strong OOP/SOLID background (it's a must)
Nice to have
- Experience with enterprise identity/provisioning: SAML 2.0, Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), SCIM
- Experience with Microsoft Graph and/or Google Workspace (Gmail, Calendar, Contacts) APIs
- Experience integrating construction or ERP platforms or comparable domain-specific APIs
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain integrations between ProjectMark and external platforms (construction ERPs, email/calendar providers, identity systems) within a Node.js-based microservices architecture.
- Build and maintain OAuth 2.0 authentication flows, secure token storage, and automated token/subscription renewal.
- Implement robust bidirectional data sync with field mapping, conflict resolution, and resource matching between external systems and our CRM.
- Design and operate webhook infrastructure (inbound provider events and outbound customer webhooks), backed by queues for reliable, at-scale processing.
- Build RESTful APIs using Node.js and Express.js, ensuring high performance and scalability.
- Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code following best practices and coding standards.
- Implement comprehensive unit, integration, and end-to-end tests to ensure code quality and reliability, including handling third-party failure modes and rate limits.
- Analyze and optimize integration performance to meet scalability and latency requirements.
- Work effectively with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and other engineers, and collaborate with external partners where needed.
