Tetra Tech is adding an Senior Engineering or Geoscience Technologist to join our Geophysics team based in Edmonton, AB.

Our Geophysics Group has members in Edmonton, Calgary, and Vancouver, and we work on projects across Western and Northern Canada. A large portion of our work is completed in collaboration with geotechnical engineering groups across Tetra Tech.

Your Role

  • Maintain local geophysics equipment inventory, including troubleshooting, routine maintenance, cleaning, repairs, packing/shipping, and warehouse organization.
  • Plan and manage safety and logistics for field programs.
  • Support a wide variety of geophysical projects throughout the full project cycle. This will include completing cost estimates, providing off-site field support to junior staff, and assisting the lead geophysicist with data review and deliverables.
  • Conduct geophysics surveys, including, but not limited to, seismic refraction, MASW, VSP, ERT, electromagnetics, downhole, non-destructive testing, and GPR.
  • Work closely with other team members to deliver assignments on schedule and within budget.
  • Represent Tetra Tech as a leading industry expert when interfacing with our clients.
  • Carry out work in accordance with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.
  • Follow Tetra Tech’s safety procedures, work safely at all times, and report any health and safety-related incidents or concerns.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • A geoscience or engineering technology diploma, or similar.
  • Registration, or eligibility to register, with ASET, ASTTBC, or a similar professional body is an asset.
  • 15+ years of experience.
  • Must be able to demonstrate experience in geophysics, geotechnical engineering, instrumentation, and hands-on geophysics equipment maintenance.
  • Experience in consulting is considered an asset.
  • Willingness to learn and take initiative.
  • Positive attitude and ability to work with diverse teams.
  • Able to work long hours outdoors in all seasons.
  • Safety certifications in First Aid, ATVs, WHMIS, H2S Alive, etc., are considered an asset.
  • Travel may be required. Candidates must be prepared to undertake field assignments, as needed.
  • Must be physically capable of performing required manual labour, including carrying and lifting heavy equipment and traversing steep and rugged terrain.
  • Must possess a valid Class 5 driver's license (or equivalent).
