Job Title: Sr. Test Automation Engineer
Location: Santa Barbara, CA or Remote

Job Summary:

We are looking for a Test Automation Engineer to design, develop, and contribute to MixModes test automation frameworks and research emerging automation technologies as they relate to big-data deliverables (you’ll notice the heavy emphasis on automation). This individual will work within a development scrum team toward building quality products. This role will involve setting up test environments and infrastructure. Additionally, this individual will brainstorm new ways to improve quality and testing, building off of personal and team members’ ideas. They will identify, classify, and debug defects in code.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and contribute to the MixMode test automation frameworks
  • Attend daily team meetings, planning sessions, encourage other team members, and collaborate at a rapid pace
  • Design, develop, contribute to, and help maintain the MixMode test automation frameworks and tests
  • Research emerging automation technologies, and work with the team to integrate them into the existing automation infrastructure where appropriate.

Requirements:

  • 5 years of automation testing experience (including work experience in unit test automation frameworks)
  • Proficient in Typescript and at least one one other scripting languages (Javascript, Python, Bash, etc.)
  • Experience with end-to-end UI testing frameworks such as Playwright or Cypress
  • Experience with continuous integration systems (Codeship, Travis, GitLab)
  • Experience with Test Management Systems such as Testmo or Testrail
  • Experience working in dynamic and collaborative work environments
  • Self-learner, technology and quality advocate
  • Actively seeks problem areas, bugs, and isolates problems efficiently
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ideally, this candidate will have real experience with Amazon Web Services (EC2, S3, RDS, EMR, ELB, etc.)
  • Ideally, this candidate will have experience with web services using REST and GraphQL
  • Ideally, this candidate will have experience working in large distributed environments

This is a newly created position and we are open to hiring great talent who may have qualifications above or below those specifically listed in this job description. Pursuant to California law, we must display the pay range for this job. Since we are willing to hire within a broad spectrum of qualifications, we also reflect a broad pay range. The base salary range that we are targeting for this position is $100,000 - $160,000 though we can adjust based on individual qualifications. Individual salary is determined by qualifications, role, level, and location.
