Job Title: DevOps/SRE Engineer
Location: Santa Barbara, CA or Remote within the U.S.A.
Job Summary:
MixMode is looking for a DevOps/SRE Engineer who is passionate about designing, implementing, and managing Kubernetes clusters, automating infrastructure with Terraform, and optimizing AWS resources. The ideal candidate will have a proactive approach, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. You will be a key player in ensuring our systems are robust, scalable, and efficient, while also participating in on-call rotations and contributing to our CI/CD processes.
Responsibilities:
- Kubernetes Cluster Management:
- Design, implement, and manage Kubernetes (K8s) clusters.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues within the K8s environment.
- Optimize cluster performance and ensure high availability.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC):
- Develop and maintain IaC using Terraform for our AWS environment.
- Implement scalable and reusable infrastructure solutions.
- AWS Resource Management:
- Manage AWS resources such as EC2, RDS, VPC, ELB, ALB, and security groups.
- Optimize resource usage and ensure cost-efficiency.
- Containerized Application Management:
- Use Helm charts to deploy and manage containerized applications.
- Ensure smooth operation and deployment of applications within the Kubernetes environment.
- Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD):
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines.
- Ensure best practices in CI/CD to streamline development and deployment processes.
- On-call Participation:
- Participate in on-call rotations to provide 24/7 support.
- Proactively resolve incidents and ensure minimal downtime.
- Version Control and Collaboration:
- Use Git and GitLab for version control and collaboration.
- Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to achieve project goals.
- Share knowledge and mentor junior team members.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in designing, implementing, and managing Kubernetes clusters.
- Strong expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform.
- Proficient in managing AWS resources, including EC2, RDS, VPC, ELB, ALB, and security groups.
- Experience with Helm charts for managing containerized applications.
- Solid understanding of CI/CD practices and tools.
- Comfortable participating in on-call rotations.
- Well-versed in Git and GitLab processes.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset.
- Strong team player with excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- 5+ years experience in an SRE/Operations/DevOps role.
- Familiarity with the following technologies is a huge bonus: ElasticSearch, PostgreSQL, Kafka.
- Degree or equivalent background in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
This is a newly created position and we are open to hiring great talent who may have qualifications above or below those specifically listed in this job description. Pursuant to California law, we must display the pay range for this job. Since we are willing to hire within a broad spectrum of qualifications, we also reflect a broad pay range. The base salary range that we are targeting for this position is $150,000 - $200,000, though we can adjust based on individual qualifications. Individual salary is determined by qualifications, role, level, and location.
